Dave Willis

R.A.F. Squadron Leader

On the 17th February Dave Willis and Gerry Breen became the first people to a hang glider from the summit of Ben Nevis (4,406ft) in Scotland. They took off at 1.10pm and set a new UK altitude record. An article about the event appeared in the second edition of the BKSA Sailwing magazine.

The photos below are of Dave's first hang glider that he built himself, while stationed at RAF Wittering in Cambridgeshire, where he was stationed as a Harrier pilot. According to his son Dave still fly's the glider to this day.

During the past few months he has flown it in Abu Dhabi. Its previous flight was around 20 years ago in India.
