During the very early years of Hang Gliding in the UK there were two clubs, the 'National Hang Gliding Association' which served the Eastern side of Southern England and was run by John James (aka John Haynes). While the 'British Kite Soaring Association' served the Western side of Southern England and was run by Dick Bickel.
