Georg was the last commanding officer of 5 commando in Congo before they were disbanded and returning to South Africa. He has been mentioned in a few books written about the time, including Mike Hoare’s books, as he was second in command to him for a while before he took over from Mike Hoare. The two portrait photo’s were taken when he was a Lieutenant / Captain in 5 commando and the other when he was a Major / Lieutenant-colonel. Unfortunately he passed away in 2004.
